#sketchbookclubballoons My first ever sketchbook club module. I made life difficult for myself by cutting up an old worn map with lots of creases and tears - not a great surface for painting. While I am quite happy with the result I might attempt a version 2 on a nicer map - and maybe add some figures in the baskets...? All constructive criticism and feedback on my efforts welcome! Now I have the fun of choosing the next module. I am thinking fish... ...

Flying high! It’s the last week of the summer holidays for us this week and it’s a week to sort, tidy and prepare for the coming term.
Over the very rainy bank holiday we had I completed another #sketchbookclub from jenniemaizels Certainly not my finest work and I found it quite tricky working freehand with the gouache and no outline to follow.
I’ve learnt lots with this one; how the gouache behaves, layering paints, brush control and shading. Great fun!

Small details in gouache without a teeny tiny brush were hard and the humidity meant the paint was taking forever to dry and kept muddling. 🤷🏼‍♀️ also made a 🐷 👂🏻 of sticking the map in the book but you can’t win them all. #sketchbookclubballoons ...
